Forbidden kingdom--review

The movie starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li was quite impressive. Even from the start, you could see the J intertwining the names of the major casts stated. The plot, although not new to us, still holds the mystery that we are craving for. A simple teenager which is played by Michael Angarano is fun of watching Kung fu. He often goes to this particular dvd rental store which is owned by an old man. Michael, upon seeing a staff-like weapon, stated that it was for monks and asked the old man why he had it but the old man said nothing. Michael was often bullied by a gang, he can't help himself then. The gang decided to rob the dvd rental store where Michael frequently rents Kung fu movies. The old man was shot by the leader of the gang, before he died he handed the staff-like weapon. Michael ran and was absorbed by a powerful force until he fell. He then awoke in another place where the language is not known. People were wearing different clothes and he was also wearing something different. Suddenly, warriors were seen slaughtering the people. He was seen and he was about to be attacked when a drunken traveler came by and helped him. He was actually a master of kung fu which is Jackie Chan. They went then to a tea house and Jackie Chan talked about the weapon that was once owned by the monkey king. The monkey king was so powerful with the weapon but then once when he fought with a general, the weapon was taken out and he was frozen by the general. Legend says that there would be a person who would return the weapon and set free the monkey king. There was a girl who heard them talking, her name was Sparrow. When the soldiers attacked jackie Chan and Michael, she helped them. So the three of them journeyed together, then one morning, the weapon was taken by a monk riding a horse. The three of them followed him in a temple. Jackie Chan and another Jet Li fought until they knew they were there for the same cause. They then traveled and after that they encountered the witch who was promised by the general of an elixir of immortality so she needs the weapon given to her. Her wrath caused Jackie Chan to lay wounded. Michael was so sad about it, he decided to go on with his journey alone since the monk would not allow him to go out. Michael wants to save his teacher, Jackie Chan by getting the elixir of immortality. Bravely, he set forth and he was about to be killed when the three of his companions, sparrow, Jackie in a stretcher carried by kung fu kids, and the monk helped him fight off the enemies. The elixir was then dranked by Jackie and he became well. Jackie Chan fought later with the witch when sparrow was wounded because of fighting with the witch. The monk died trying to defend Michael. The monkey king was set free by Michael and it turned out that the monk was just a hair/copy of the real monkey king. Sparrow decided to aim her jade weapon to the general for murdering her mother but then the jade weapon went back to her. She then died. Michael was chagrined about it, nevertheless, he was the one who killed the general with the jade weapon. (Romantic inclinations of the story/plot was not included as I feel it's not that relevant) At the end though, one would expect that he went back to his world, studying the kung fu. He met out of a sudden a girl with the same looks of that of the one who died. Jackie Chan apparently was the old guy shot but still was alive because of the elixir of immortality. The plot was entertaining but not original. There were so many questions left unanswered but then i recommend this to all because not all in life could be deciphered. The mystery of it is what gives it spice.
